Media Mentoring Project Launches
Community Journalism Classes For Windham County

Brattleboro, VT, USA, September 19, 2005 -- The Vermont Independent Media group is pleased to announce the start of its Media Mentorship Project, a writing program for people interested in community journalism.  The introductory class will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the basement meeting room of the Brattleboro Savings and Loan at 221 Main St.

In the "Community Works" section of the soon-to-be-launched The Commons newspaper, community members will be given space to report and opine on their neighborhoods, their organizations, and other matters of importance to them. These sessions are intended to help anyone who is interested in writing and journalism to write clearly in a style appropriate for a newspaper.

These classes are free of charge and open to all. No writing experience required.

The instructors are Ann Landenberger and John Beagan, both teachers at Leland and Gray High School, and Vincent Panella, writer and retired professor of writing at Vermont Law School.

For more information about the Project,  please visit our website at www.brattleboroThe Commons.org or call us at 802-348-7701.   You can also write to Vermont Independent Media at P.O. Box 1212, Brattleboro, VT  05302.
