Media Mentoring Holds Second Writing Class
Project Fosters Local Community Journalists

Brattleboro, VT, USA, October 25, 2005 -- The Media Mentorship Project, Vermont Independent Media's community journalism workshop series, will hold its next writing class on Tuesday, November 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Green Mountain Mama, 105 Canal Street, Brattleboro.

Kristi Ceccarossi, associate editor at the Brattleboro Reformer; John Beagan, English teacher at Leland and Gray High School; and Vincent Panella, a writer in Marlboro, will team teach the class and serve as individual tutors to provide follow-up for students.

Classes are free of charge and open to all. No writing experience is required.

Vermont Independent Media, publishers of the soon-to-be-launched The Commons newspaper, strongly support the phenomenon of citizen journalism which will have a prominent place in the new paper. Community members will be given space to report and opine on their neighborhoods, their organizations, and other matters of importance to them. The Media Mentorship Project is part of an effort to prepare participants to become community journalists here in Brattleboro.
