FREE MEDIA MENTORING CLASS: A Look at the Media From the Inside
(BRATTLEBORO, VT) Those interested in learning how the news is gathered and reported are encouraged to attend a free interactive presentation of the Media Mentoring Project, “A Look at the Media From the Inside.” On Monday, December 12 at 7:00pm Kate Casa, Editor for the Southern Vermont Bureau of the Vermont Guardian and columnist Judith Gorman will team up to explain the news gathering process, the different types of writing in a newspaper, and to give insight on how news and opinions get published. The class will take place at Green Mountain Mama’s Diner, located at105 Canal Street. Participants may bring their writing projects if they would like feedback on how to increase their chances for publication in newspapers. No previous writing experience or class attendance is required. Child care or carpooling arrangements may be possible by calling in advance: (802) 348-7701. The Media Mentoring Project, a project of the local non-profit Vermont Independent Media, aims to prepare participants to become community journalists in the greater Brattleboro area.
