Co-op, Housing Trust hold downtown block party

BRATTLEBORO — On July 13, Brattleboro Food Co-op Shareholders, Windham & Windsor Housing Trust neighbor tenants, and friends celebrated the construction process of the new Cooperative Building on Main Street with a block party.

While dancing to music by   Fenibo, enjoying a full cookout menu, and Bart's Ice Cream, partygoers all had a great time, even through the interruption of a significant   yet short downpour. As the storm cleared, party attendees were treated to a double rainbow over the new cooperative building.

The Block Party was conceived by the Brattleboro Food Co-op and the Windham & Windsor Housing trust to thank everyone for the inconvenience of the construction process in tight quarters. Construction continues, with the opening of the new building scheduled for the spring of 2012.

The completed building will house the new Co-op, including community room, demo kitchen and commissary kitchen, and two floors of upper-story housing, with 24 rental units of various sizes.
