BMAC benefit supports artists, arts organizations damaged by Irene

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Arts Center will host a benefit in support of Windham County artists and arts organizations affected by Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 6-8 p.m., at the museum, 10 Vernon St.

The evening will be a fun, art-infused, family-friendly, community dinner with live entertainment and a cash bar, set amidst beautiful artwork. Tickets are $20 (or $10 plus a potluck dish for 8); $5 for children ages 8-12; and free for children 7 and under.

A buffet-style dinner will be provided by Elliot Street Café and others, supplemented by potluck dishes from some guests, served at BMAC.

Live entertainment inside and outside the museum will include clowns, jugglers, stilt-walkers, fire-eaters, and aerialists affiliated with New England Center for Circus Arts, as well as live music and other performances throughout the evening.

Guests who pay to attend will specify which artists or arts organizations they'd like their admission fees to support. BMAC will distribute funds accordingly. BMAC will gather and share suggestions of artists and organizations, but guests will decide for themselves.

Which artists and organizations will be the beneficiaries remains to be determined, but 100 percent of the funds raised will go where they are needed.
