‘Bar Raising’ benefits flooded out Brattleboro pub

BRATTLEBORO — Flat Street Brew Pub and Tap Room sustained serious flood damage during Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday, Aug. 28. It must replace nearly all of its equipment, furniture, and décor.

The restaurant has been closed since Tropical Storm Irene hit. With the help of the community, it aims to reopen its street-level pub area within a few months, and has longer term plans to reopen the Tap Room Restaurant.

In order to get the pub back on its feet, and get the staff back to work as soon as possible, it is throwing a fundraising bash.

Join Flat Street Brew Pub & Tap Room for The Bar Raising: A Fundraiser for Flat Street Brew Pub & Tap Room at the River Garden in downtown Brattleboro on October 1, starting at 6 p.m. The space is provided by the United Way and the event is sponsored by Berkshire Brewing Company and Vermont Wine Merchants.

Music will be provided by a variety of musical guests including Evelyn Harris of Sweet Honey and the Rock, Tom Woodbury, and others. There will also be a silent auctions, featuring a variety of items donated by Flat Street Brew Pub's many loyal friends and patrons, including original artwork, beer, handmade knit items, and much more.

Suggested admission is $20 (however, in an effort to create the community atmosphere for which Flat Street Brew Pub is famous, no one will be turned away from The Bar Raising due to lack of funds). There will be a cash bar and complimentary appetizers.
