Vermont Theatre Company announces its 2011-12 season

BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Theatre Company is celebrating its 28th year of providing the greater Brattleboro area with quality and affordable community theater.

This, VTC's 2011-12 season, began in late October with Broadway Divas, an evening of song and dance from popular show tunes and a delicious dinner. The director was James Gelter, the musical director was Amy Roberts-Crawford, and the choreography was by Cyndal Ellis. Tristan Toleno and Entera Artisanal Catering prepared the dinners.

The next production, to be performed Jan. 19 through 22 at the Hooker-Dunham Theater, is DUMB.soprano, an evening of two hilarious one-act absurdist plays - Harold Pinter's The Dumb Waiter, directed by Ben Stockman, and Eugene Ionesco's The Bald Soprano, directed by Sam Murphy.

On March 23-25 and March 30-April 1, VTC will present Doubt: a Parable, by John Patrick Shanley, also at the Hooker-Dunham Theater. Doubt tells the story of a nun who suspects a priest of molesting an altar boy and of the doubt of guilt or innocence that follows. Hallie Flower directs.

Bob Kramsky will direct the classic stage comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace, from May 4-6 and 11-13, at the Dummerston Grange. It's the tale of two charming and beloved elderly sisters who also happen to be homicidal maniacs, delighting in poisoning their gentlemen friends.

In late June, VTC will present their 22nd annual Shakespeare-in-the-Park production. This year, it will be their first of Shakespeare's history plays, Henry V. Jessica Callahan will direct and, as always, it will be performed on the Rotary Stage in Brattleboro's Living Memorial Park.
