Brattleboro Women’s Chorus delivers Singing Valentines on Feb. 14

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Women's Chorus thinks that love is one of the best reasons to celebrate, and they want to help make sure your Valentine's Day 2012 won't be ho-hum.

Instead of sappy greeting cards or little heart candies with overused phrases, they are ready to help express your fondness or appreciation with something memorable, moving, and melodic - an uplifting serenade for your Valentine in three-part harmony.

Send good will and cheer to friends and loved ones in the Brattleboro area, and for those far away, singing valentines over the phone are available.

The songs this year are well-known like- and love-songs, and over half of them are lovely arrangements by chorus director, Becky Graber.

A trio of chorus women outfitted in pink and red will travel to the place of your choosing to surprise the recipient with heartfelt renditions of two songs, for example, “I Can't Give You Anything but Love” or “It's a Wonderful World” (Don't know much about history ...) or Mr. Rogers' “It's You I Like.”

The chorus's website lists all the available songs.

In past years, groups have sung in homes (for one person or a whole dinner party), in hospitals, veterinary clinics, offices, stores, schools, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, shopping centers, workshops, and even the police station.

All this happens only on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A Singing Valentine within 5 miles of Brattleboro costs $35, or $45 for distances 6 to 15 miles from Brattleboro. Both include a Brattleboro Women's Chorus CD. Phone valentines are $20 for one song and are available from 6 to 8 p.m. only.

Ensembles will also be singing for area nursing homes and The Gathering Place.
