Brattleboro Chamber awards scholarships to five local graduating seniors

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce announced today the 2012 recipients of its Skills for Success scholarships. Five area high school graduates were each awarded $500 by the business organization to help further their post-secondary school education.

This year's awardees are:

• From the Windham Regional Career Center, Raven Solomon of Brattleboro, who will attend Vermont Technical College to study civil and environmental engineering technology.

• From Kindle Farm School in Newfane, Erik Starr of Windham, who is going to Lyndon State College to study music studio production.

• From Brattleboro Union High School, Lindsay Johnson of Vernon, who will attend the Pennsylvania College of Technology to study nursing.

• From Hinsdale (N.H.) High School, Heather Scherlin of Hinsdale, who will attend the Keene Beauty Academy to study hairstyling.

• From Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend, Samuel Bourne of Brookline, who is going to State University of New York-Cobleskill to study diesel mechanics.
