Non-resident library card fees to increase Sept. 1

BRATTLEBORO - On Sept. 1, the annual nonresident library fees at Brooks Memorial Library will increase from $48 to $58, the first increase since 2007.

The library is supported by Town of Brattleboro property taxes that are equal to $58 per capita.

What do you get for your $58? Access their Library Value Calculator at http://www.brooks.lib.vt.us/librarycalculator.htm, where you can actually see what the value is of the services received from the library. You will be surprised at the hundreds of dollars of value that you receive with a library card - borrowing books, audiobooks, DVDs - not to mention the electronic services such as downloading eBooks and eAudio, as well as our full-text database.

While the Trustees increased the fee at their June 10 meeting, they also passed a two-year card at a discount of $100.

The six-month card will increase from $25 to $30. Extra cards will remain the same at $5 per year. For more information or questions, contact the library at 802-254-5290.
