BRATTLEBORO — Steve “Corm” Cormier, a longtime fixture on the Burlington radio scene, has been hired to be the station manager and morning host at WTSA AM-FM.
Cormier, along with former UVM men's basketball coach Tom Brennan, co-hosted the “Corm and The Coach” morning show for 18 years on Burlington radio.
He was a close friend of the late Bill Corbeil, who purchased WTSA in 2007 with his wife, Kelli.
Kelli Corbeil, the current owner and general manager of WTSA, said she and her husabnd had been trying to get Cormier to come to Brattleboro ever since they bought the stations.
“This company, the listeners, and the advertisers will all benefit from his expertise immensely,” she said. “I am thrilled to have Steve become a part of my WTSA team.”
A native of Fitchburg, Mass., Cormier is a 1982 graduate of Lyndon State College. He has more than 30 years of radio experience, with stops in Claremont, N.H., Hartford, Conn., and Vergennes before settling into the Burlington radio market.
“Bill was a great friend and this is something that both he and Kelli wanted,” said Cormier. “I am honored to be a part of this radio group. In my mind, WTSA is the best radio station in the state of Vermont because it has never lost the focus of serving the needs of this community.”
Corbeil said the addition of Cormier to the WTSA management team will help them maintain the radio station's status as the top-rated commercial radio station in the Brattleboro area.
“It is our goal to continue the longstanding heritage of both our radio stations by continuing to support our communities with the best news, information, music, sports/talk, and public service possible,” she said.
WTSA signed on at 1450 AM for the first time in 1950. It added an FM station at 96.7 FM in 1975.
The AM station currently is an affiliate of ESPN Radio, while the FM station features an adult contemporary music format.
