In absolute awe of O’Connor

BRATTLEBORO — I am writing this letter in support of Kate O'Connor, Brattleboro Statehouse Democratic representative candidate for town District 3.

I have just finished reading a book that Kate has complied in her travels with past Governor Howard Dean, who attempted to run for the Democratic Presidential nominee in the 2004 election for president of the United States. I am in absolute awe of the experiences that this young woman has had the opportunity to acquire during this extremely exciting endeavor.

Kate's background as a lifelong Vermonter and Brattleboro resident, on state and a local level, and her vast experience working with Dean for over 10 years and assisting with other governors past and present, has to have given her one of the most incredible backgrounds one could have to be able to understand the Legislature and the issues that are on constant pressure at the local and state levels.

Please realize the background of Kate and her political family.

Her father is Tim O'Connor, who has served the Legislature for many years and was once House Speaker. He has served as Brattleboro Town Moderator, for I can't guess how long, and many committees, state and local.

Her mother, Martha O'Connor, has been involved on the state Board of Education and on the many local committees in Brattleboro, as well as having been a member of the Brattleboro Selectboard.

I can't think of any person who has more knowledge of local and state issues with so much pressure, experience, and knowledge put on her by family and government, who could serve the people of Brattleboro with more vigor and enthusiasm.

I certainly would appreciate seeing this very talented Vermonter in our legislature representing Brattleboro. This primary vote is scheduled for Aug. 28.
