United States Marine Band to perform at Bellows Falls Union High School on Oct. 13

BELLOWS FALLS — As part of its 2012 national concert tour, “The President's Own” United States Marine Band will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Bellows Falls Union High School. The concert is free and open to the public.

Conducted by Vermont native Col. Michael J. Colburn, the United States Marine Band is America's oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Founded in 1798, the band has performed for every U.S. president since John Adams.

As director of “The President's Own,” Colburn is the music adviser to the White House. He regularly conducts the Marine Band at the executive mansion and at all presidential inaugurations. Bellows Falls Union High School music students will have the opportunity to meet with members of the United States Marine Band before the concert.

Free tickets are available by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to BFUHS, P.O. Box 429, Bellows Falls, VT 05101. Tickets may also be picked up at the Bellows Falls Union High School during the school day. There is a limit of four tickets per request.

The main entrance to the high school will be open at 7:15 p.m. All ticket holders must be seated by 7:45 p.m. If seats are still available at that time, people without tickets will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.bfuhs.org.
