Fundraiser will benefit family of injured student

DOVER — An benefit event at the 1846 Tavern at the West Dover Inn will raise funds for the family of a student critically injured in London.

According to several London news accounts, Amy Werner, daughter of Rich and Regina Werner, remains in critical but stable condition after a car left the road and careened into a sidewalk, hitting her and killing a young mother.

“The Werners have flown to be with her in England, and are staying by her side as she receives treatment,” reports Rev. Emily Heath, pastor of the West Dover Congregational Church. “For those of us here in Vermont, we have an opportunity to help support the family and help with their expenses as they help Amy to recover.”

The fundraiser runs from 1 to 5 p.m., and “$20 gets you food, drink, and access to an auction with lots of great donations,” Heath writes.

Werner is identified in the British press as a “postgraduate bursary student” at the University of Westminster, studying events and conference management. The Nov. 10 accident took place in West Hampstead.

Donations are also accepted at Merchant's Bank in Wilmington, specified for the “Amy Werner Benefit Fund.” For more information, contact Kristen Wallace at 802-348-6814 or Cheryl LaFlamme at 802-464-8843.
