BMC Holiday Celebration is Dec. 9 at River Garden

BRATTLEBORO — On Sunday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m., the Brattleboro Music Center invites everyone to come and enjoy the evening at a special holiday celebration.

Festivities include live and silent auctions for your holiday gift giving, serious hors d'oeuvres for the gourmand, and seasonal libations for general refreshment. Proceeds benefit student financial aid and other BMC outreach and education programs.

Hillside Organic Catering is providing a selection of delicious hors d'oeuvres and grilled items made with local organic ingredients. You'll find beer, wine, egg nog and mulled cider at the cash bar.

For those looking to start the evening off on just the right note, join the BMC at 3 p.m. for a special chamber series performance by renowned musicians Jamie Laredo, violin; Steven Tenenbom, viola; Sharon Robinson, cello; and Benjamin Hochman, piano.

Leading the silent auction this year is professional auctioneer Joyce St. Jean. Up for grabs: beautiful hand-crafted holiday centerpieces and other decorative items by BMC trustee and nurse practitioner Agnes Mikijaniec, her mother Heidrun Mayer, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital co-workers Gloria Solar and Maureen Mansfield, and Julie Plummer and Mary Rosen.

Generously donated fine art items up for auction include a watercolor by Key West artist and part-time Vermont resident Neila Dunay Fisher; a fine handcrafted desk clock by Wilmington wood sculptor Eric Sprenger; a painting by Wilmington painter Jim McGrath; and a piece by Simon Pearce Glass.

Also available: gift certificates for yoga, Pilates, or core strengthening classes; a massage; a facial; jewelry and other gifts. Or enjoy a special night out with dinner certificates, theater and concert tickets, and overnight stays at Grafton Inn and Latchis Hotel.
