New film festival says ‘thank you’

BRATTLEBORO — The first annual Brattleboro Film Festival launched the first weekend in November and, folks, it was an amazing success!

We thank everyone who came to see films and to show support. Attendance was terrific, with some shows selling out, including the repeat showing of our Best in Fest winner, Chasing Ice. These great films might never have had a chance to be shown in our area without the help of all the volunteers, partners, and area businesses that made this launch a success.

We want to give a heartfelt thanks to Jeff Potter and The Commons; Jon Potter and the Brattleboro Reformer; Jonathan Jensen, Latchis Hotel and all the Latchis staff; the Marlboro Graduate Center; Paul Cameron, Brattleboro Climate Protection; Carolyn Conrad, Windham County Humane Society; Clay Turnbull, the New England Coalition on Nuclear Pollution; the Boys and Girls Club; and Vermont Skateboards and all the skaters who came to Brattleboro to demonstrate techniques following the Bones Brigade showing.

Also: Joe Bookchin, Vermont Film Commission; Sandy Shriver; Steve West, WKVT; Jim Maxwell, WVEW; Tim Johnson, WTSA; Susan Keese, Vermont Public Radio; Darren Mark, Tree Free Greetings; Robin Antepara; Bob Nassau; Anne Stokes; Windham Wines; Brattleboro Cheese; Jackie Abrams; and Em Richards.

We want to also especially thank all of our volunteers, including Meg Lyons, Suzanne d'Corsey, David Levine, Marlene Everingham, Kamana Adhikary, Jesse de la Rosa, Pat Halloran, Liz Kenton, Judith Thomas, Radha Newsome, and members of the BFF Advisory Council: Bill Forchion, Jay Craven, Alan Dater, Lisa Merton, Andy Reischman, Kate Purdie, Robbie Leppzer, John Scagliotti, Gail Nunziata, Darren Goldsmith, Michel Moyse, Linda Moyse, Arlene Distler, Jerry Goldberg, Muriel Wolf, and Marilyn Buhlmann.

And thanks to all who take the time to visit our website to check volunteer opportunities to help us mount a full festival in 2013 and to share suggestions for great films of all genres which speak to the unique and wonderful character of Brattleboro.
