TubaChristmas returns to Brattleboro

WEST BRATTLEBORO — The third annual TubaChristmas will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m., at the First Congregational Church on Western Avenue.

TubaChristmas is a concert held in cities around the world, celebrating those who play, teach, and compose music for instruments in the tuba family, such as the tuba, Sousaphone, baritone, and euphonium horns. The concert was first held in 1974 in New York City, featuring more than 300 musicians.

Tuba and euphonium players from Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York State are expected in Brattleboro for this year's TubaChristmas concert, which will be led by Bruce Corwin of Brattleboro's American Legion Band. Guest conductor is Steve Rice of the Brattleboro Union High School band.

The program consists of familiar Christmas music, and your participation is welcome.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with rehearsal beginning at 1:30 p.m.

For more information on participating, contact Corwin at 802-254-4157. Admission is free, although audience members will be given an opportunity to donate.
