Sewer rates rise

PUTNEY — PUTNEY-The Selectboard has voted to raise sewer rates to meet the financial obligation for the 2013 budget.

Putney's flat rate per quarter will go up $8, from $86 to $94. The metered rate will go from .004 cents per gallon of water to .0042 cents per gallon.

The rates for users in Dummerston is now $172 per quarter, and will increase to $188. The metered rate will increase .0004 cents, to .0084.

The increase took effect Jan. 1.

Maes appointed

PUTNEY- The Selectboard has appointed Alice Maes as the second of its two representatives to the Local Rivers Subcommittee (Wantastiquet Subcommittee) of the Connecticut River Joint Commissions, joining Geno Palmeri.

The joint commissions are comprised of New Hampshire's Connecticut River Valley Resource Commission and Vermont's Connecticut River Watershed Advisory Commission. The two groups collectively monitor the federal relicensing process for the dams along the Connecticut River.
