Expanded hours, new offerings at BMAC

Museum now open Wednesdays, late on Fridays, early on Saturdays; free film screenings after Gallery Walk

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) announces expanded hours and new services for visitors beginning this month.

BMAC will now be open on Wednesdays, later on Fridays, and earlier on Saturdays, increasing its open hours by 30 percent.

On Fridays, BMAC will stay open until 7 p.m., making it easier for visitors to combine a museum visit with dinner or a movie. From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a cash bar at the museum, with wine and beer provided by Windham Wines.

On Saturdays, BMAC will open at 10 a.m. Previously closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, BMAC will now be open on Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning Jan. 23, guided tours will be offered every Wednesday at noon and 4 p.m.

BMAC will continue to anchor Brattleboro's monthly Gallery Walk. The first Friday of each month, the museum will remain open until 8:30 p.m., with free admission after 5:30 p.m. The cash bar by Windham Wines will also remain open until 8:30 p.m.

New in 2013, BMAC will present free film screenings after every Gallery Walk. Screenings will take place at 8:30 p.m. in the museum's Center Gallery.

According to BMAC director Danny Lichtenfeld, the expanded hours are part of an initiative to make the museum a more attractive destination for visitors from throughout New England, as well as for regular patrons from the Brattleboro area.

Regular admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for students. Members and children under 6 are admitted free.
