Award-winning children’s author presents her new book ‘In Disguise!’

PUTNEY — Author Elizabeth G. Macalaster presents her new book, “In Disguise!: Undercover with Real Women Spies” at the Putney Public Library on Thursday, March 7, from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Spanning more than 300 years and 10 countries, “In Disguise!” (2013), written under the pen name Ryan Ann Hunter, tells the stories of history's most daring women, from Harriet Tubman, who freed hundreds of slaves during the Civil War, to dancer Eva Wu, who hid secret messages in her hair to aid the Chinese Revolution.

Its gripping, true stories, secret-agent tips, and spy trivia feed a growing appetite for intrigue and adventure in young readers.

Indeed, young readers will meet 30 strong, heady, intelligent women of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities who risked their lives to stand up for what they believe.

Their heart-stopping stories of dangerous missions, narrow escapes, and secret alliances will have kids riveted. These aren't tales of women politely sitting at desks decoding messages: these are stories of great escapes, perfect disguises, and history-making acts of courage.

As shared pen name Ryan Ann Hunter, authors Pamela D. Greenwood and Elizabeth G. Macalaster have won several awards for their inspiring children's books and know how to capture the attention of young readers.
