Drag Kings 4 Life to perform at art exhibit opening

BRATTLEBORO — In a special addition to the opening exhibit of Liz LaVorgna's “Dapper” photography exhibit, the Northampton Divas Drag Kings 4 Life will appear at the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

Shameless DeVille, Loo D'Flyest Priestly and Izzy MJ Forrestor will take to the stage to perform during the Gallery Walk artist's reception. Viewing of the art will continue during the show, and refreshments will be served.

Green Mountain Crossroads sponsors the exhibit, show, and reception. A free showing of “If These Walls Could Talk 2” (2000) will follow at 8 p.m. in the Hooker-Dunham Theater.

In this exhibit, LaVorgna, of Core Photo (www.lizlavorgna.com), explores “dapper boi” style with a series of striking portraits of masculine expression.

The subjects of LaVorgna's photos are featured in “The Boi Next Door” calendar, a 2014 project she created to build awareness, visibility, and acceptance “for dappers and bois everywhere.”

“I want to give people a new lens to see through. I want people to be able to see beyond gender to the amazing person in front of them,” LaVorgna said.

“The Boi Next Door Calendar” will be on sale at the reception, taking pre-orders for delivery in later December.

“If These Walls Could Talk 2” examines the changing tides of the lives of lesbians in America, both politically and personally, through three stories taking place in the same house over five decades.
