Winter Village Stroll in Wilmington features chili and chimes

WILMINGTON — Chili and Chimes, a Winter Village Stroll event, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. in historic downtown Wilmington.

Village Strolls have been a summer ritual for seven years, but this will be Wilmington's first January village stroll event. There will be fun downtown for everyone, with chili samples and handmade chime displays. The event is free; all are welcome.

Sample chili from downtown restaurants at locations throughout the village. Chili styles range from mild and delightful to wild and adventurous. Look for “spoon chimes” marking locations that have chili or other events. Restaurants and bars will offer hot drink specials for the day.

River Bank Park will have a wind chime “chandelier” on display thanks to the people of SAP (Social Art Project). The individual wind chimes that make up the chandelier will be sold following the event. Come to the park to reserve yours early, and help support future village social art projects.

As well, stop by the sleigh outside Chapman's In-Town Antiques. Put on themed clothing (provided), hop in the sleigh, and presto: a perfect photo moment.

Bartleby's Books is hosting an event with Adam Boyce, author of “The Man from Vermont: Charles Ross Taggart: Old Country Fiddler” (2013, The History Press). A fiddler will play following the author event.
