WKVT to broadcast forum on heroin problem in community

BRATTLEBORO — WKVT Radio presents “A Call to Action” on Thursday, May 15 - a community forum on the increasing problems of heroin use and related criminal activity in our area.

The program will be broadcast live from Brooks Memorial Library and air during the “Live and Local” show's regular slot, 9 a.m. to noon, on 100.3 FM and 1490 AM.

“A Call to Action” gathers policymakers, law enforcement, treatment providers, and drug-awareness and -prevention specialists for a discussion about what every community member can do to help those on the front line in this battle.

Classic Hits 92.7 morning host Fish and “Live and Local” host Chris Lenois will co-moderate the forum, which includes Harry Chen, health commimssioner of the Vermont Department of Health; Tracy Shriver, Windham County State's Attorney; John Merrigan, a lieutenant with the state police; Gene Wrinn, Brattleboro's police chief; Steven R. Gordon, president and CEO of Brattleboro Memorial Hospital; Dr. Todd Kammerzelt of the Brattleboro Retreat, and Kate O'Connor, executive director of the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce.

Participants also include members of Turning Point of Windham County, Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition, and Youth Services, Inc.
