Guilford goes ‘Fourth’ a week early with annual Freedom Fest

GUILFORD — Guilford's annual Freedom Fest is being celebrated on Saturday, June 28, at Broad Brook Grange from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Opening this event is an inspiring 5K run/walk that passes through dairy farms and along country roads. The starting gate is at Broad Brook Grange. Registration is at 9 a.m. Prizes are awarded for different levels.

Guilford's Freedom Fest Parade begins at 11. This charming parade represents the spirit of small-town enthusiasts, young and old, and is one the shortest and sweetest Independence Day parades in Vermont.

Immediately following the parade are a family barbecue, live music, and games. The Any-Berry Pie Contest is judged at noon. Pies are to be brought to Broad Brook Grange by 11. Prizes are awarded for flavor and presentation.

New this year: a tasting table for local Sapling Maple Liqueur provided by Saxtons River Distillery. Samples will be distributed, and Sapling products will be sold. Locally made Guilford crafts and maple syrup will be available as well.
