Red Barn 10 x 10 Auction on Aug. 9 celebrates New England artists

WARDSBORO — The evening cocktail party and silent auction known as “The Red Barn Affair” two years ago was the talk of the town for weeks afterward. Organizers say this year's reprise of the party - and auction of original art by New England artists - promises to be as well-attended and exciting.

Come to the Red Barn 10 x 10 Art Auction on Saturday, Aug. 9, rain or shine, at a lovely, big tent at Wardsboro Library, 170 Main St.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Wardsboro Library.

The auction showcases the work of distinguished artists from Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont, and features more than 50 original 10-inch by 10-inch works in a wealth of styles and genres on small birch boards.

One will find original paintings, fiber art, watercolors, prints, ceramics, photography, and drawings. For a preview, visit www.friendsofwardsborolibrary.org.

The silent auction is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The live auction starts at 6:30 p.m. Bob Sprague, a professional auctioneer from Brattleboro, will conduct the live auction.

And although the art auctions are the evening's highlight, this event is a wonderful summer party for friends and neighbors. There's a cash beer and wine bar and free hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and soft drinks.
