BMAC seeks submissions for juried exhibit

Open Call NNE (North-Northeast) to showcase artists from New York, New England

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) seeks submissions for a new juried exhibit, “Open Call NNE (North-Northeast),” which opens at BMAC in January 2015.

Artists at all stages of their careers, working in any medium, are encouraged to submit work for consideration by Nov. 14.

According to BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld, this will be different than the four other regional juried exhibits BMAC has organized over the past 10 years.

“In those cases, the juror selected a very small number of artists, each of whom showed a substantial body of work. The downside was that so many deserving artists did not make the cut,” Lichtenfeld explained.

This time, Lichtenfeld said, the museum plans to showcase dozens to 100 artists, each represented by up to four works in a large, salon-style exhibit.

The juror for “Open Call NNE (North Northeast),” which will be on view at BMAC Jan. 10 to Feb. 8, 2015, is Richard Klein, exhibitions director of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
