Auction raises nearly $30,000 for hospice

BRATTLEBORO — On Oct. 25, Brattleboro Area Hospice (BAH) presented its Cherished Goods Auction at the VFW in Brattleboro. A whole host of people came out to support this annual fundraiser and bid on a wide range of goods in both the silent and the live auction (which was ably done by auctioneer extraordinaire Kit Martin, who volunteers his expertise).

We thank all those who came out to support this event, those who donated goods available for bidding, and all the many wonderful volunteers who work so hard to make the event run smoothly and and be so memorable.

We also heartily thank our many sponsors. Without these generous and community-minded organizations and people, this event would not have been possible, so Brattleboro Area Hospice and the Auction Committee thank them whole-heartedly.

Also, we cannot forget all the local merchants who donated items and services to the silent auction - their generosity is deeply appreciated. We ask that the readers support our area merchants, who give so much to our community. Please shop locally, and don't forget to stop by the hospice's Experienced Goods thrift shop.

In addition to the donors and sponsors, I once again thank a hearty committee of volunteers who pulled this event together for much of the past half year (and their friends and relatives on the evening of the event). A lot of innovative thinking coupled with hours of time, hard work, and elbow grease helped make this event a success.

And we all thank the many attendees whose generosity raised nearly $30,000, with all proceeds directly supporting the hospice care and bereavement services that are provided completely free in our community by Brattleboro Area Hospice.
