Drop-in Center raises $26,000 for hungry

BELLOWS FALLS — Our Place Drop-in Center in Bellows Falls recently held its 17th Empty Bowls event (the oldest in the area) and its most successful, raising more than $26,000 to help keep food on the tables of folks in the greater Rockingham area.

There are many people to thank for our success: the potters who donated their handmade bowls; the local restaurants and cooks who donated soups; the children of New England Kurn Hattin Homes who graciously served; the students in Shelly Crawford's class at Bellows Falls Union High School who made our dessert cookies.

We also thank the many merchants and individuals who donated items for the auction; our wonderful auctioneer, Sharon Boccelli; Vermont Academy, which provided corn bread, salad, and the tablecloths; our ticket outlets; our kitchen crew; and, especially, Sue Jasse of Alyson's Orchard, who generously offers the use of her lovely facility.

We want to particularly thank our sponsors. And thank you to all who attended! See you Nov. 1, 2015!
