Working Bridges supports area employers and employees

BRATTLEBORO — Local employers challenged by sustaining a stable and productive workforce are invited to attend “Intro to Bridges Concepts,” facilitated by Prudence Pease on May 15, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro. The training is hosted by Working Bridges Employer Workgroup, convened by United Way of Windham County.

The cost is $25 per person and includes training, materials, and light refreshments. Registration is encouraged, as space is limited. The training is being sponsored by River Valley Credit Union.

This session is intended for senior managers, human resources professionals, supervisors, and employees of organizations with economically diverse workforces. This training continues the work of the regional Working Bridges Employer Workgroup, which began in November 2012 and meets bi-monthly in Brattleboro.

Working Bridges is an employer collaborative dedicated to improving workplace productivity, retention, advancement, and financial stability for employees. Employers know the success of their businesses and economic health of the community depends on employee retention and enhanced productivity. Through Working Bridges, they also recognize a steady job is the most reliable ticket out of poverty for individuals.

United Way of Windham County also announced that Elizabeth Raposa has joined its staff as the Working Bridges Resource Coordinator, supporting employees at their worksite to help solve non-work related issues that cause personal and family stress and get in the way of work. This is done primarily through understanding the issue(s), and identifying and connecting the employee to appropriate resources.
