‘Brattleboro Goes Fourth’ still short of fundraising goal

Radiothon set for June 12 to make up the gap

BRATTLEBORO — Organizers of Brattleboro's Independence Day celebration are seeking the public's help to close a fundraising gap a month before the 42nd annual event.

The “By the People: Brattleboro Goes Fourth” citizens committee will mark July 4 with a morning parade downtown and afternoon and evening of sports, concerts, and fireworks at Living Memorial Park.

Brattleboro's Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks not only will lead the march with its giant American flag, but also will cover all of this year's parade costs.

Corporate sponsors C & S Wholesale Grocers, G.S. Precision Inc., Holstein Association USA, and the Richards Group will fund all the free family activities at Living Memorial Park.

But the all-volunteer effort, so far having raised about half of its fireworks budget with the help of the Brattleboro Savings & Loan, still faces a financial gap of about $2,000.

As a result, organizers are inviting the public to donate at a WTSA radiothon on Friday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brattleboro Savings & Loan on Main Street.

People also can give through a www.youcaring.com link on the Brattleboro Goes Fourth and Brattleboro Savings & Loan Facebook pages or by mailing donations to “Brattleboro Goes Fourth,” P.O. Box 1112, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
