Chard deNiord, Vermont’s new Poet Laureate, reads at Putney Library

PUTNEY — Vermont's incoming Poet Laureate, Chard deNiord, will give a reading at the Putney Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

He will read from his newest collection, Interstate, as well as other recent work, including his interviews with other notable American poets.

Poet Jericho Brown says of Interstate, “DeNiord is a poet who stands firmly in a tradition that weaves Stevens's philosophical daring to Whitman's open and unending heart. Interstate is a gem of a book about the intersection of light and dark, joy and pain.”

Copies of Interstate will be available for signing and sale the evening of the reading.

A longtime resident of Westminster West, deNiord is the author of five books of poetry and is currently a professor of English at Providence College.

Putney Public Library is located at 55 Main St. This program is free and open to the public.
