Landmark College presents ‘Centering’ at the Fine Arts Gallery

PUTNEY — The art exhibition “Centering” opens on Feb. 27 at Landmark College's Fine Arts Gallery.

Curated by art professor Jen Morris, the exhibit features five artists of regional, national, and international reputation.

“I wanted to make sure that I invited artists with as broad a foundation of process as possible,” Morris said in a news release. “I tried to not just represent a variety of mediums, but also include studio-based artists, artists who are reinventing their medium's history of 'studio,' and post-studio artists.”

The artists, Steve Budington, Roberto Lugo, Billie Mandle, Seldon Yuan, and Janne Höltermann, will exhibit works in video, ceramics, painting, sculptural objects, and photography. Morris said he views the exhibit as “speaking to how individuals locate themselves or find a center.”

Budington, an associate professor of art at the University of Vermont, will feature works in painting.

Lugo, assistant professor of art at Marlboro College, will show ceramic work.

Mandle, an assistant professor of photography at Hampshire College, will show photos of architectural spaces.

Yuan, a poet and visual artist from Brooklyn, N.Y., shows poems and text.

Janne Höltermann, from Germany and based in New York, exhibits video art.
