‘Neo-noir’ film classics featured at Next Stage

PUTNEY — Next Stage Arts Project presents ON SCREEN, a series of themed films, hosted and curated by filmmaker Vanessa Vadim and writer/producer Paul van Winkle.

The first theme is neo-noir. All films in the series will be on Monday nights at 7 p.m.

Upcoming films in the series include Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Feb. 8), Winter's Bone (Feb. 15), and Touch of Evil (Feb. 22).

A short course on cinematic storytelling, ON SCREEN will provide the community with a place to view films in a casual setting in variety of categories, while exploring questions, techniques, and ideas about filmmaking.

Materials are provided, and discussions will be led on the basics of cinematic storytelling as the focus: story/idea, editing, sound, script, and cinematography. Weekly screenings are followed by conversation about the role of film in culture, art, and politics, as well as the art and techniques of filmmaking.
