Brooks Library presents ‘Altered Books’ exhibit

BRATTLEBORO — The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library are hosting an exhibit of “The Altered Book.” The exhibit will be on display through April 4 on the Main Floor of the Library.

Friends' board member Amir Flesher states that “altered books are defined as works of art not just by the physical changes made to the book, but also by the ways in which the artist enters into a thematic and artistic dialogue with the original.”

Mosaic artist and teacher Susan Rosano has on display her work, “Tree of Learning.”

Rosano is a master teaching artist with the Vermont Arts Council, Arts for Learning Connecticut, Life Time Arts in New York City and the state of Connecticut Commission on the Arts. Rosano is the vice president and Student Art Month coordinator of the Arts Council of Windham County.

The exhibit is intended as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library. Proceeds from the sale of an altered book will be shared between the Friends and the artist.

The Friends' fundraisers go to support the purchase of public programs, digital subscription services, technology and equipment for the library.
