Roaring 20s dance to benefit Our Place

Flapper dresses and boater hats are being dug out of the depths of closets or fashioned from thrift store finds as preparations begin for the Roaring Twenties dance Saturday, March 19, to benefit Our Place Drop-in Center.

The Bluebird Orchestra will play at the Walpole Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Bluebird members Donald Saaf, guitar and vocals; Matthew Sharff, standup bass and vocals; Rick Contino, pedal steel and banjo; Riley Goodemote, trombone; and Paul McTaggart, drums, have appeared extensively throughout the area.

Tickets at $20 for adults and $15 for students will be on sale at the door. It's BYOB for adults, with snacks provided.

Prizes will be given for the outfits that best carry out the Roaring Twenties theme of flappers, mobsters, good-time Charlies, Gatsby-esque dudes and other fun-loving characters.

Further information is available by contacting Our Place at 802-463-2217, on line at www.ourplacevt.org, on Facebook or at [email protected].

The dance will provide funds for the work of the daytime shelter and food pantry located at 4 Island Street, whose mission is to connect people to food and one another. It serves families in Rockingham and the surrounding area and in Walpole and North Walpole, N.H.
