Winter Farmers' Market wraps up season with CSA Fair

BRATTLEBORO — Saturday, March 26, marks the final week for the 10th season of the Post Oil Solutions' Winter Farmers' Market.

It is also the ninth annual CSA Fair hosted at the Winter Market. Organizers expect to have nearly a dozen CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms represented, offering information about farming operations and CSA share options.

Farms will be offering weekly CSA shares for vegetables, fruit, flowers, and more. Some offer deliveries to central pick-up locations while many invite shareholders to visit their farms each week and get to know their operation. Some farms invite shareholders into their fields to lend a hand in picking the week's harvest. And some participate in the Vermont Farm Shares Program, which subsidizes the share cost for families with limited incomes so they too can feed their families fresh healthy fruits and vegetables.

Market Managers urge 3SquaresVT customers to use up all of their double up coupons and wooden market tokens before the season ends. Coupons expire on March 26.

The Winter Farmers' Market offers fresh greens as the spring weather allows, apples, roots, maple syrup, cheese, local eggs, grass-fed beef, pork and lamb, locally raised chickens, baked goods, local pickles and preserves, sweet treats, pottery, hot lunches, and more.

The market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden, 157 Main St. For more information, call 802-869-2141, or email [email protected].
