Arts Council announces Student Art Show ‘People's Choice Awards’

BRATTLEBORO — For the past three years, the Arts Council of Windham County has collected votes for “The People's Choice Awards” at each venue of the High School Student Art Show.

This year, votes were collected for the 2-D show at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden and for the 3-D show at Vermont Artisans, both located on Main Street in Brattleboro.

The Arts Council of Windham County has sponsored this show of student art from seven high schools across the county for the past 36 years during the month of March. This year, the public who saw the show cast more than 350 votes. The following students gained the most votes for their pieces:

2-D winners

First Place - “Turtle,” an oil painting by Skylar Nupp of Leland & Gray High School

Second Place - “Human Nature Series: Fawn & Cottontail,” a charcoal drawing by Erelyn Griffin of Leland & Gray

Third Place - “Susan,” an oil painting by Mavis Eaton of Brattleboro Union High School

3-D winners

First Place - “Stoneware Vase,” raku pottery by Sam Savard, Vermont Academy

Second Place - “Myth Pot,” clay pottery by Serena Pellerin, BUHS

Third Place - “Text Cabbage Planter,” clay pottery by Serena Pellerin, BUHS
