Rotary scholarships deadline is Friday

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary will offer college scholarships again this year to graduates from Brattleboro, Leland & Gray, and Hinsdale, N.H., high schools.

A combination of financial need, academic achievement, and community service are the criteria for selecting the recipients. The scholarships will be presented during the senior awards ceremonies at each of the three schools in June.

In addition, the inaugural John Penfield Memorial Scholarship, created in memory of the club's first president, will be awarded to a qualified student seeking a career or education in the automotive trades.

Applications are available at each school's guidence department and at www.brattleborosunriserotary.org. They must be postmarked by Friday, May 13, and mailed to Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 1995, Brattleboro, VT 05302.

The club has given out nearly $200,000 in scholarships over the past 20 years.
