FairPoint honors Lillie for 20 years of service in telecom industry

SOUTH BURLINGTON - FairPoint Communications recently recognized Local Installation and Maintenance Operations Manager Chris Lillie with a 20-year service anniversary award by Vice President of Northern New England Field Operations Rich Murtha.

Lillie oversees the Brattleboro and Bennington offices. He began his career with the company as an installation and maintenance technician based out of the Milton office. He remembers being hired during a time when there was a huge demand for phone lines and dial-up internet - back when 52 kilobits was the top broadband speed.

He also worked as a technician at numerous Vermont offices, including White River Junction and Brattleboro, until he was promoted to management in 2004. Since then, he has overseen installation and maintenance teams in Brattleboro, Bennington and White River Junction.

“We are able to deliver broadband speeds today that I never imagined when I was hired,” Lillie said in a news release. “These speeds are opening up an ever-growing wealth of information and opportunity to our customers. It is very rewarding work to help our customers with their communication goals, and to be a part of the transformation of the business into the data transport and technology company it is fast becoming.”
