BMC Chamber Series wraps up season with concert by Jinjoo Cho, Hyun Soo Kim

BRATTLEBORO — Violinist Jinjoo Cho and pianist Hyun Soo Kim will perform works by Corigliano, Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, Tower, Zwilich, and Waxman at 4 p.m. at the Centre Congregational Church on Main Street, closing out the 2015-16 Brattleboro Music Center's Chamber Series on Sunday, June 5.

Cho, the gold medalist of the 2014 Ninth Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, made her first appearance on the international music scene when she garnered the First Grand Prize and Radio Canada's People's Choice Award at the 2006 Montreal International Musical Competition at age 17.

Kim has performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, and South Korea. In demand as a collaborative pianist with singers and instrumentalists, he is a member of the collaborative piano staff at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Kent State University. He has served as a staff pianist at Rocky Ridge Music Center, Interlochen Arts Academy, and regional opera companies in Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Delaware.

The program will include Joan Tower's String Force, Clara Schumann's 3 Romances for Violin and Piano, Op. 22, and Robert Schumann's Sonata for Violin and Piano in D minor, No. 2, Op. 121. Also featured will be Fantasy for Solo Violin, by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich; Sonata for Violin and Piano by John Corigliano; and Carmen Fantasie by Georges Bizet/Franz Waxman.
