Pikes Falls Chamber Music Fest offers free concerts at Latchis

BRATTLEBORO — The Pikes Falls Chamber Music Festival returns to the Latchis Theatre this summer for two twilight-hour free concerts on Friday afternoons, according to a news release.

Grammy-nominated musicians from the chamber music festival - celebrating its fifth season in Jamaica - will perform music by Bach, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, and world premieres by Joseph Hallman and Nathan Lincoln-Decusatis on consecutive Fridays - July 29 and August 5 - at 4 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Complete concert repertoire is available on the festival's website.

According to the news release, the friendship between the Latchis and the Pikes Falls Chamber Music Festival began in a pinch last summer when a concert venue where the festival was due to play was damaged in a fire. Looking to find a venue for the concert on short notice, the festival contacted the Latchis, and the concert was so successful, the two organizations decided to do it again this year - this time on purpose.
