Three join Stevens & Associates

BRATTLEBORO — Stevens & Associates recently welcomed three new members to the architecture and engineering firm.

• Bob Crego is a Project Manager for Development. Crego brings with him over 25 years of professional experience in the community development field, largely as an affordable housing developer.

In addition to his role as the founding director for Valley Cares, Inc. in Townshend, VT, Crego's past experience includes organizational and project development, financing management, grant writing, and business planning.

He is currently working on several projects in development, including the redevelopment of a four-acre block of land and historic building at the Four Corners in Bennington. Known as the Putnam Block Redevelopment, the project would consist of mixed use downtown space with offices, retail, and apartments.

• Jamie Martell, EIT, is an Associate Engineer. A Brattleboro native, after working with the S&A team during the summer of 2015 as an engineering intern, Martell returned to the University of Vermont to complete his senior year.

In May of this year, he received his Bachelors of Civil Engineering degree with honors. Martell's coursework senior year focused on steel, concrete, and geotechnical design, as well as advanced hydrology. For his senior design project, he created a Stormwater Mitigation Plan for the Shelburne Road in Burlington, and gained leadership experience as the President of the UVM Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

In addition to his internship at Stevens & Associates, Martell has worked for a local carpentry and construction company,obtaining skills applicable to his current position.

• Michael Becker is a Structural Engineering Technician. Becker brings with him over 18 years of professional experience, including seven years of structural drafting and design of numerous building types ranging from hospitals, schools, and water treatment plants.

Much of his recent work has been with Boston based clients. Having an interest in historic preservation, Becker says he looks forward to integrating his abilities and values with S&A projects. He is currently assisting with a variety of projects including a new townhouse development for a ski resort, a new facility for a growing brewery, and the redevelopment of a downtown city block.
