Wineries and artisans team up for a weekend of art and tasting

Local artists and wineries have joined forces to plan a weekend of art, wine, food, and fun.

The Connecticut Valley isn't known as wine country, but now, according to a news release, three vintners are making wine in the towns of Westmoreland and Walpole N.H.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Poocham Hill Winery, the Summit Winery, and Walpole Mountain View Winery at Barnett Hill Vineyard will host more than 20 members of the River Valley Artisans. Visitors may enjoy wine tasting and stroll among displays, where artisans will show their work and offer sale items.

Oil paintings, water colors, and art photography will be shown, as well as handcrafted jewelry, wooden ware, and fiber art. Asbury Church of Chesterfield, N.H. will host a food tent at the Summit Winery location both days and will also have some art-themed activities for children.

Visit www.rivervalleyartisans.com for more details and a map of the tour. Maps will also be available at local businesses and wineries.
