Manitou hosts fall equinox celebration with music and dance

WILLIAMSVILLE — The Manitou Project is planning a fall equinox celebration on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 3 p.m. to dusk. The celebration will honor this seasonal transition into autumn, with movement, music, and fellowship.

Participants will gather at the parking lot at 3 p.m. with a brief stroll to a welcoming place in the woods for a shared circle dance - movements from the ancient tradition of paneurythmy.

Traditionally, the fall equinox is the conclusion of paneurythmy's seasonal honoring of the sun in summer. Rupa Cousins will lead the group in simple steps.

At 4 p.m. there will be a short walk to the outdoor concert hall, or forest glen, for sound healing on behalf of all nature and human beings present. Vibrant Ensemble, with Stephan Brandstatter and Dennis Waring, will provide sounds with gongs, chimes, bells, percussion, and wind instruments.

Festivities will conclude with a shared picnic supper.
