‘Ukulele-in-a-Day’ workshop offered

PUTNEY — Lisa McCormick will lead a “Ukulele-in-a-Day” workshop on Sunday, Oct. 23. The workshop is designed for beginners and self-taught or rusty players who want to get a solid foundation of basic skills in a day-long class.

Students will learn how to tune, how to use proper positioning and technique, and how to strum easy chords. McCormick will offer insider tips and tricks, and teach participants to play several songs. Ukuleles will be available to use for the class or to purchase.

McCormick teaches students of all ages, many of whom have no prior musical experience, with an instructional approach that “nurtures fast and easy success with learning an instrument, in a fun and supportive environment,” according to a news release.

Following the success of a ukulele flash mob in late August, a second one is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28. The Halloweeny Ukulele Flash Mob takes place at the Brooks House Atrium in Brattleboro at 6 p.m.
