First Congregational hosts Christmas Bazaar

WEST BRATTLEBORO - The annual Christmas Bazaar at First Congregational Church of West Brattleboro is Saturday, Nov. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Booths will feature Christmas greens and ornaments from balsam wreaths to berry bowls, hand crafted gifts from baskets to hats and wool gloves to afghans.

The general store will sell fudge, sweet and savory treats, and preserves, and there will be a display of doll clothes and embroidered sundries. The baked goods table will be brimming with fresh bread and pastries, as well as containers of chili and cornbread to take home for supper. A kid's corner will feature pinecone bird feeders and wooden Christmas trees.

The West Bee Nursery will be there with handmade soaps and lotions, and a raffle will feature items from maple syrup to quilts and homemade dolls, from rustic settee to Vermont cheeses to the ever-practical gift and gas cards. The drawing will be held just before closing at 1:30 pm. Lunch will feature our hearty corn chowder and various sandwiches. Coffee and cider will be available all day.

Holiday craft fair in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. - The annual Chesterfield Holiday Craft Fair at the Town Hall will be on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, featuring local artisans, crafters and cooks. A portion of the day's proceeds will benefit “Operation Christmas,” a local mission project of Asbury United Methodist Church that serves the greater Chesterfield community.

The Christmas Cafe in the annex will present delicious soup, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, and tasty sweets prepared and served by the Women's Fellowship of the church.

New this year are warming, specialty holiday beverages to sip while you shop. The Chesterfield Town Hall is located across from the Post Office on Route 63.

Hospice plans holiday sale at Brooks House

BRATTLEBORO - On Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Hospice Shop Pop Up, a live holiday shopping extravaganza, will appear in the Brooks House Atrium on the corner of High and Main streets.

On Friday evening, there will be finger food and live music to make your shopping experience more fun. Curated with an eye for gift giving, there will be something for everyone on your list, with hand-crafted artisanal items, art by local artists, vintage collectibles, winter accessories, jewelry, and more.

Career Center hosts holiday event

BRATTLEBORO - On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Windham Regional Career Center is hosting a holiday event at the Center at 45 Career Circle (brick building up behind Brattleboro Union High School on hill, park in the church parking lot).

The Center will showcase their programs and have food and beverages for sale, and vendors will sell handmade goods. There also will be a rummage sale and a raffle. Holiday Bazaar at All Souls

WEST BRATTLEBORO - The annual Holiday Bazaar at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will once again offer unique artisanal wreaths and greens on Friday, Dec. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Handmade swags, wreaths, and table arrangements and natural wonders to decorate the largest and smallest of spaces will be available for sale.

On Friday, children can decorate cookies (by donation), and there will be a variety of different chilis available to go.

Lunch is served on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a menu offering soups, bread, desserts, and baked goods at the Artisan Bake Table.

A silent auction will feature gifts such as theme baskets, maple syrup, hand-knit items, and dog sitting. On the Green Team Table will be homemade cloth gift bags, fair trade chocolate, and videos and DVDs.

All proceeds benefit the All Souls Church Unitarian Universalist at West Village Meeting House on South Street, home of the Theater Adventure Program, as well as a gathering place for special occasions, community events, and conferences. For more information, call 802-365-7388.

Christmas Bazaar at Guilford Church

GUILFORD - Guilford Community Church will hold its Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Handmade crafts, decorated wreaths, holiday cookie platters, white elephants, and unique gift items will be for sale, along with a lunch of homemade soups and sandwiches.

Raffle items include a beautiful handmade quilt, an American Girl doll, a Boulder Creek portable gas fire pit, gift certificates, and much more.

All proceeds from the Bazaar benefit the church, which actively supports numerous local programs and organizations serving the wider community. From Interstate 91, take Exit 1 (Brattleboro), go south on Route 5 to just past the Guilford Country Store, turn left on Bee Barn Road, and left again on Church Drive.

Santa comes to Gibson-Aiken Center

BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department welcomes Santa Claus on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Santa will arrive at the Gibson-Aiken Center on Main Street at 1 p.m. on a tractor provided by The Robb Family Farm and escorted by the Brattleboro Police and Fire departments. Children can visit with Frosty and Santa and his elves and have their pictures taken for a donation.

“Santa's Workshop” will be open for children to decorate Christmas cookies, which are donated and made by “The Hideaway” at Brattleboro Union High School, with frosting made by Vermont Country Deli. Also, the BUHS Band will be playing Christmas tunes. This event is for children of all ages.

Dover Craft Fair seeks vendors

DOVER - Artists, crafters, and vendors are being sought for the second annual Holiday Craft Fair taking place on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Dover School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wreath-making class in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO - The Recreation & Parks Department will present a holiday wreath-making class on Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Gibson-Aiken Center, 207 Main St.

The cost is $10 for Brattleboro residents and $12 for nonresidents. Light snacks will be provided. Participants must be 18 years or older and will need to bring wire cutters, cutters for greens, and gloves; all other materials are included.

Only 20 spots are available, so call 802-254-5808 to register on or before Dec. 2.

Jingle Bell Jog returns to Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO - The third annual Jingle Bell Jog is Saturday, Dec. 10.

The 5K run-and-walk road race will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Brooks House on Main Street and run along the Whetstone Brook. The first 200 registrants will receive a commemorative mug full of hot chocolate. There will be prizes for the first three men and women finishers. Holiday-themed attire is encouraged, but not required, and jingle bells will be provided.

Service of Scripture and Carols set for Dec. 18 at Green River Church

GUILFORD - The Green River Church in the village of Green River in Guilford will hold the annual Service of Scriptures and Carols at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Leader Michael Mario will be joined by Charles Butterfield on the organ and a brass ensemble from Brattleboro Union High School. The service will be recorded by WTSA-FM for broadcast on Christmas Eve, courtesy of the Richards Group. Refreshments will be served in the vestibule of the church following the service.

This will be the Church's 56th annual service, its only fundraising event of the year. In 2001, the church became a part of the Green River Village Preservation Trust, a local, nonprofit, historic preservation group.
