Youth poetry, music slam featured at Next Stage

PUTNEY — Next Stage Arts will bring together young writers, performers, and musicians to explore the meaning of poetry, as part of its ongoing literary series, Next Stage Speaks, on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.

Young adults will share original material, published pieces, live music, and the power of the spoken word with featured Brattleboro-based punk band Impending Exorcism and featured performers - and Poetry Out Loud veterans - Elizah Price and Kaya Dean.

Next Stage Speaks is hosted by poet Chard deNiord. There is a suggested donation at the door of $10.

Chard deNiord is the Vermont Poet Laureate. He is the author of numerous books of poetry, and a book of interviews with seven senior American poets. A co-founder of the New England College MFA Program in Poetry, he works as a Professor of English at Providence College and lives in Westminster West.
