Farmland Committee gets back together

VERNON — VERNON - The town's dormant Farmland Committee came back to life at the Dec. 19 regular Selectboard meeting.

Farmer Arthur Miller notified the Board he and others want to “rejuvenate the committee” and get it on the upcoming Town Meeting warning.

Board members expressed their encouragement, and unanimously approved appointing Miller, Maddie Arms, Skip Baldwin, Eileen Hardy, and Jeff Hardy to the committee.

The Farmland Committee plans to hold a public meeting in February to share information and try to get new members, Miller said.

Selectboard member Steve Skibniowsky expressed surprise the newly-rejuvenated committee could get a meeting together so soon.

“I'm actually ready tonight,” Miller said.

Town has new WRC representative

VERNON - Town Clerk Tim Arsenault threw his hat in the ring and requested the Selectboard appoint him as the town's primary representative to the Windham Regional Commission.

During the Dec. 19 regular Selectboard meeting, members unanimously voted to grant Arsenault's request.
