DBA gets donation of new recycling receptacles

BRATTLEBORO — The Downtown Brattleboro Alliance recently received a donation of new recycling receptacles for downtown Brattleboro from recycling-system company Recycle Away.

The new receptacles, valued at $4,000, are located in Pliny Park and the Transportation Center. The brightly colored blue and green containers are made of heavy-duty plastic. Kate O'Connor of the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce, located next to the park, said in a news release that “these are the most attractive containers we've seen.”

Asked about the donation, Recycle Away President and CEO Michael Alexander said, “As a downtown business ourselves, Recycle Away is impressed with the [the Alliance's] efforts to keep streets clean and inviting for our community. It is our pleasure to help with their initiatives.”

Downtown Brattleboro Alliance works with local businesses on many initiatives, including the beautification of downtown. These efforts are led by the Alliance's design committee, chaired by Dick DeGray.

In addition to the flowers and lights downtown, the design committee assists in facade improvements for downtown businesses and properties. To join the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance, visit www.brattleboro.com/join.
