Village Dance Series to feature young performers

DUMMERSTON — An evening of community contra dances will take place at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston Center on Saturday, March 18, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Andy Davis will call the dances. He will be joined by the Witman Family Band, featuring Ellery Witman on fiddle, Everest Witman on guitar, Alden Witman on Irish whistle, and Avery Witman on cello. The band is from Brattleboro and the Village Dance Series is honored to open the season with this extraordinary group of young musicians.

Other dances in this series will take place on April 15, May 20, and June 17. All dances take place at the Evening Star Grange and always feature live traditional music performed by local musicians and callers.

The Village Dance Series, now in its 26th season, provides an opportunity for families and friends to come together to enjoy one of New England's revered traditional pastimes. Prior dance experience isn't necessary, as all dances are taught. All ages and abilities are welcome. There will be a potluck supper before the dance at 5:30.

The program includes traditional New England contra dances, square dances, circle mixers, and couples dances.
